Chapters 13-End
Dracula was a very religious book even though it does not appear to be. I think that vampirism is a representation of sin because the vampires portray lust and unholiness because they are repelled by religious objects such as communion waffers, crosses....and garlic. The three female vampires represented lust and when Mina was touched with a communion waffer it burned her forehead, because she rendezvoused with Dracula. Another thing that i want to know is how did Bram Stoker come up with the idea of vampires? Did they just pop into his head or were they urban legends, like in the book. Overall I really liked this book. It really did set up the foundation for modern vampires. Most authors now have branched off of the ideas of Dracula though. I did like this book but at some parts it was very boring because Stoker is very descriptive and writes in detail.

7-12
Well Mina's friend Lucy is now a vampire. It reminded me of twilight because Van Helsing said that her beauty returned, which is what happens to Bella in Twilight. I am also curious about Renfield's character! What role does he play in this book? I mean all he does is eat birds and flies, so i don't know how he will come into play in the future. I thought it was cool to see Van Helsing use garlic to keep away Dracula, because it is a classic move to keep away vampires. Also, i am not liking the journal entry set up. It makes the story very boring I think. I like a lot of narration, it makes for a better story in my opinion.

Dracula Trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlDbxogHPao
Casia, the book sounds 100X better than this trailer which is kind of creepy...Should we watch the movie or do you think it would ruin the book?
